This is a collection of songs I haven’t put to video yet. It seems like a good idea just to get a post up. They’re fun, to me anyway. If you’re a Marshall or Greg Robinson fan, not so much.
The first one is Turd Country I wrote for the Marshall-WVU game. Being that I’m a WVU fan it’s kind of one sided.
The next one is written for Syracuse fans. It’s kind of a slight, but it came from a good place because I wanted to say I was happy they got rid of GRob and brought in a coach that understands the program. Anyway, it’s called Welcome Back Syracuse. Original title, I know. Just work with me people.
This last one isn’t really anything to do with anything, just that maybe someone might want a copy of the original version of Rocky Top I did for EDSBS.
I got Pro Tools for recording, and decided to start using a full band sound. But with the added technology there was an added stress level of doing this every week. I tried to expand it by doing a song for each of the major conferences in the preseason. Ultimately, I burned myself out and wasn’t able to finish the season. I had to just walk away. I hated quiting FanHouse, but I was also happy to have some free time and work on some real music.
I started the season the same way I ended it, by picking on tOSU. Your Flagship’s A Failboat is one of my favorite songs. Just the music and vocals were fun and easy, and that’s the best kind of song.
The Big East Hot Seat was a shift back to the bluegrass sound. It seemed like the right thing to do. At the time of me writing this, Steve Kragthorpe is still employed at Louisville. But I’m pretty sure if you read this in two months he won’t be.
You Ain’t Forty Anymore is the preview for the Big 12. I wish I could record this one over again. As I did these previews I got more and more behind. So some of recording sessions were rushed. But that’s life.
The Week Five Upsets was a collection of different games. Fun, and I liked the way the recordings were starting to sound. I was finally learning how to make a good recording with the new software.
The Long Tearful Ride is about the Red River Shootout between Texas and Oklahoma. After my WVU team whooped Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl the year before, I had a lot of contempt to Oklahoma. In truth, they were a great team. But that didn’t stop my from wanting Texas to win.
The ACC Is BCS Minus The C is just me hating the ACC. It’ll probably take a long time for me to change. It really hurt the Big East. As long as a Big East team is in the title chase and an ACC team isn’t, I’ll be happy. So far it’s worked out that way most of the time.
Goodbye Phil, Hello Dr. Phil was the last song I did for FanHouse. If it sounds sad, it reflects the way I felt from the grind of doing these songs every weekend.
I can’t see the reason to do a post for each song I want to post. Just a little blurb for each should do.
This first one, Losing To Croom, is from the 2007 Auburn-Mississippi St. game. I think this was the first one that Pete Holiday edited. One of the more popular ones also.
Pete Carroll Can’t Have This is the first one I edited the video for. It shows, but it’s fun. From the Stanford-USC game. Biggest upset ever in college football, I believe.
Next up is the Ode To Phil Fulmer. Pete really seemed to enjoy this one. I have no idea why. From the Alabama-Tennessee game. Not really an upset as much as me being motivated to see the quality of the Phil Fulmer pics Pete had.
Do The Jorts Fit Better is from the Georgia-Florida game. From the 2005 Sugar Bowl between WVU and Georgia, I got to appreciate the Georgia blogosphere, as well as being introduced to the term Jorts.
O H I Oh Damn, well I work with some OSU fans so this one was fun for me. It was recorded low. So I’m sorry about that. From the OSU-Illinois game. Funny that they did make the National Title game and got smoked.
